“SHELL”, Oto Logo (SFRY/Serbia), 1966
Otto Logo is one of the most important representatives of modernism in post-war Yugoslav and Serbian sculpture.
His sculpture “Shell” was created at the first convocation of the Symposium “White Venčac” in 1966. This work belongs to a special phase of the artist’s sculptural opus in which modernistic idea of purifying the sculpture matured. Logo visually shapes the opposite elements: soft-hard, round-flat, concave-convex, through different motifs. One of these is a shell. “I opened it to show its soft interior, which in its form opposes clean but hard exterior forms,” said Logo at the sculpture workshop on Venčac in 1966.
